Cope & Tara | day after (or 5+ years)

I believe it was January when I offered a free “day after”  session. I was going STIR CRAZY to shoot something. At first, I was enjoying the start of the new year when folks are settling down with all their new Christmas toys (and bills). Suddenly I thought I would go crazy if I didn’t shoot SOMETHING. SOMEONE. ANYONE. with my camera, of course. And since I love brides and grooms with all my heart, I decided to offer a free Day After shoot. Day After shoots are for the couple that:

a) doesn’t want to take time out of their wedding day for portraits

b) wants more than 15 minutes of portraits from their wedding day

c) wasn’t in love with their portraits from their wedding day

Sometimes this couple got married the day before. Literally. Especially on DESTINATION weddings. You HAVE to have more than 15 minutes of portrait time on destination weddings. duh. Sometimes its the week after the honeymoon, sometimes its 6 months later and in Tara & Cope’s sessions,  5 years later.

Here is an exerpt from the email that assured me I had to pick Cope and Tara:

“After 5 years of marriage, 2 over seas deployments, and 1 amazing little boy, we’re still smiling and very much in love, maybe even more so. I still fit into my white wedding dress and Cope can proudly sport his dress blue uniform. It would mean a lot to say thank you to the man that loves me and how proud I am of him for going to war and coming back home to us SAFELY after so long.”

Here are a few sneak peeks from Cope and Tara’s “day after” session!

Ava | 9 months … ok. really 10.

Stephanie wanted me to shoot Ava’s 9 month session. And she asked me… like the day Ava turned 9 months. What tha?! No, really I don’t remember when she asked, but I know we weren’t able to get her on the calendar til she was more like 10. But these are still her “nine month pictures”. Because she made the call when she was nine months. and because …we said so. so there.

i think i am going to come through the screen and eat her up. seriously.

and then i am going to eat her up, again.

and now… for my FAVORITE PART of our session. Well, our session was actually over. But Stephanie sat Ava in the high chair to eat cheerios. HER FIRST CHEERIOS EVER. EVER. LIKE EVER. and i couldn’t help it. I unpacked my camera. and… be still my heart. I am seriously about to come through this screen to eat her. I want to grab her out of the screen, out of the high chair and kiss her til she cries mama. but i will practice restraint. but only because i can’t really grab her out of the screen. and ONLY because i can’t really grab her out of the screen.

and if you need to see some more of those cheerio pictures check out Ava’s Slideshow!

Cope & Tara | just one…

I try to milk every second for all its worth. I checked off my to-do list this morning, it only had 3 things on it. Not because I only have three things to do, but I only had time for these three things. Kinda big things. Now I have… 7 minutes to spare before I have to run out the door to pick up Claire and Char from pre-school. So I ask myself… what can I do in 7 minutes? Straighten my temple prostitute hair? No, that would take about 12 minutes. Straighten up my desk? 2 minutes, but then I’d have to find something productive to do with the other five. Put make up on? Nah… I can do that while I drive. Make the bed? Its almost noon… going to get back in it about 12 hours, so whats the point? Soooo, I settled on this. Chatting with you. My blog readers. Both of you.
And while I am it… just one of Tara and Cope frolicking in the field. A sneak peek, if you will. More to come. Whohoo! With a minute to spare!

Baby Addy | 13 days old

This is my neice, Addison Grace. She came into this world a few weeks ago. My sister, Holly, and I did a mini-session for them when she was 13 days old. She just barely made the “newborn” cut-off. I was digging through some to share with my sister in law, BB  and came across some keepers! isn’t she sweet perfection?

BB wanted this shot… Addy’s baby toes wrapped in mommy’s fat diamond.

Not too busy to blog about a dog…

The title is a little misleading. I am not a dog person. At all. I have a dog. Tucker. Or Tuck. The most beautiful chocolate lab you have ever seen. He is kind and gentle and totally perfection (for a dog). This morning,  Claire stopped him in the middle of eating his food to grab something she saw in his bowl. He just stopped eating, let her get it, and went back to his business. Tell me that isn’t perfection. For a dog.

All week I have been running ragged. My email is slammed with red flags. You might be one of those red flags, so bear (bare?) with me. Someone please tell me what form of the word bare, bear, i am supposed to use there! Get’s me every single time! Still running a one woman show here, but not for long. So… hang tight. Anyway, underneath the mounds of images to edit (and a lot of To-Do’s filling up my wide-ruled notebook), I just felt like sharing an image of Charlie.

He isn’t my chocolate lab. He isn’t even chocolate. This is my friend, Patti’s, dog. His name is Charlie. And they (her and her husband, Adam) ARE dog people. They put us to shame with their dog-parenting skilz. Sometimes Patti cooks casseroles just for her dogs. Casseroles have carbs, you see. So her and Adam don’t eat them. But she can make them for her dogs… three of them. Charlie, Murphy and a three legged one named Lilly.  Anyway, Charlie was diagnosed with cancer last year and has been undergoing chemo. That is how much they love their dog. I think its admirable.

Here is the Charlie baby.

Published | expectant mother’s guide

Expectant Mother’s Guide asked for submissions for their spring cover a few months back. I submitted, they chose and I kinda let it slip my mind. But I got the email this morning that it was out!
This is Suzanne, you may remember her and Wade from their maternity session last fall.
Here is the cover…. yaaay!

If i am not misquoting- I believe these are scattered in doctor’s offices all around and I am not really sure where you can pick up a copy! I will update with that information soon! It seems like a great publication. I loved stuff like this when I was pregnant. If I saw a magazine pertaining to pregnancy I was all over it! Anyway… just thought I’d share!
