Slumber Party with 5 year olds

My baby turned five this week. We had a birthday week celebration. Last Sunday we celebrated with family. Wednesday (her actual birthday) we went to american adventures and came home for cupcakes and presents. Friday, the grand finale, we had a houseful of five year olds. Claire’s one and only wish was for all of her friends to come for a slumber party. While we couldn’t host “all her friends” I was stoked to include these fabulous girls. (local addresses playing some small part in the invitee list…unexperienced in five year old slumber parties, I was hoping to shorten the distance of our midnight trips home…) But we passed with flying colors. We only lost one and she went home well before midnight. And she wasn’t scared, just too cool.

How dang cute are these kids???!!!

they were all giggles all night long…

Madeline… our oldest. and coolest. she was the only 6 year old.

her baby sister, Katie

Madison, Claire’s long time BFF.

Isabelle. New BFF. Partners in Crime on the school bus.

baby sister to the birthday queen, Charlotte.

and there she is. Miss Claire. Thinking to slide down the slide backwards.

she did it!

one more time!
Madeline.

Katie.

Madison.

Isabelle.

Recap. They played. Made sticker foam crafts. Ate birthday cookie cake. Watched a movie. Fell asleep by 10:30. Woke up at 7:30 for donuts and chocolate milk. And I think I had as much fun as they did.

Jack | newborn

Look at this angel. His name is Jack. His parents asked me to photograph their long awaited little boy and I melted upon first sight. He is a doll. A perfect little round head. Pouty lips. Smooth skin. Perfect. He might have a career in modeling… he didn’t even whimper during our entire session.
Here are a few favorites. The first one especially. Steve, Debbie?? Upstairs hallway. Canvas? Framed print?
the beautiful trio…

an unintentional series of daddy’s hands…

since Jack was such a sleeper, we just kept shooting…

Then we finished up inside when the sleepy boy woke up with the most pleasant disposition I’ve ever seen in a 3 week old!

The McCarley Family

Meet the beautiful McCarley Family.

When the little girl of this family came to the glass by the front door to peer out me, I almost squealed out loud. In delight. I have actually been so bold to solicit perfect strangers for FREE sessions with kids less cute than this little girl. It is the hair mostly that did me in. Oh and those big chocolate brown eyes. And her lips too! Basically, the child is gorgeous and I was tickled pink, yes, tickled pink, when they were still doing finishing touches on getting ready. I stole Kai away for some fun outside.

And baby sister. Doll Baby. The lips. Hello?! Where can I get some of those? She was perfect in every way. I don’t think she came even close to cussing me out. Not even once.
I love this one… not sure why. But i just do. Love it.

and this one too…

oh. and this one…

We also went to the park but this post is full. However, there was this one moment when I lied to Kai about a butterfly. Yes, sometimes I lie. But only to kids. And only when I am taking pictures of them. And only about butterflies flying on my head, Cinderella walking by, um… having something magic in my hands, candy…  But that is neither here nor there. I lied to Kai about a butterfly and turned around and there were several of them. She loved it! Here is one from the several I captured of that moment.

Thanks, McCarly’s for a fabulous session! I hope you enjoyed your sneak peek– more to come!

Ty | lifestyles

I have been photographing Ty since he was in his mama’s tummy. We were wayyy late on his two year old pictures. So these are actually his 2 year + 6 months pictures.

And I just have to share about our location for the photgraphers that visit the blog. Kelly, his mother was like… “where? where? where do we shoot his pictures?” I was squeezing him in between appointments and we needed something that would work for soft light at 12 noon and be close to us. Kelly lives really close to town, you see. She can throw a rock at Target. But right near her house is this abandoned building that was a Long John’s Silver’s in its glory days. Then a sushi bar. Now its just nothing. Grown up with weeds and looking rather disease infested. I couldn’t have insisted on it for too many of my clients. Even Kelly, my dear friend who has learned to trust me, looked at me like I had broken free from the loony bin, exclaiming, “here?! here?! really, bran?” To which I firmly said “yes. here.” and proceeded to unbuckle Ty from his car seat. So we shot this little mini session in the Long John Silver’s parking lot… and mostly on the pad of pavement used to host the dumpster! Possible holiday mini session spot for my peeps??! just kidding. Yo Yo Yo– blog number FOUR this week. Go me. Go me. Go me. (the roger rabbit is happening over here)

I just have to add– Ty is an angel from above. I hate to be a pessimist, but Kelly, your next kid cannot be this good. It just doesn’t happen that way. Ty giggles constantly but not this annoying, why doesn’t he stop giggling, giggle. He is just so full of pleasantness that it bubbles up into this big smile and comes out of his mouth the most precious sound you have ever heard. He is perfection. Pure and simple.

Jamie & Jared | lifestyles

Blog #3!!! Already met my goal this week and its only Wednesday. Whahoo!

Jamie and Jared are the cutest kids ever. Well, that may be a little dramatic. My kids are the cutest kids ever. But this brother sister pair was a blast. I don’t often get to work with older kids and I gotta say. Loved it. LOVED IT. They were so polite. So willing. So pleasant. Were they showing off or are they really this fabulous? Only mom can say, but I think they rocked.
